Ornament Tradition

As I mentioned in the previous post, we have so many Christmas ornaments now that we have to choose which ones go on the tree. How did this happen?

Every year, once the Christmas season has arrived, Mama and we kids each make a new ornament. Mama’s been hunting down new, creative ornament ideas since long before Pinterest existed! Impressive, I know. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here are a few of our creations that made it onto the tree this year:

Mama made these gorgeous ornaments for us, and even included the year in the crotchet pattern.

Yes, that’s a “’95” you see. I’m fairly certain I had some help on this one, since I was but a toddler at the time. ๐Ÿ˜‰

We made these adorable little snowman ornaments in 1999. They’re made from miniature straw hats, painted and decorated.

These are some of our most recent ornaments, made from old Christmas cards. I love them! It was a fun way to keep some favorite cards, and display them every year.

What beautiful handmade ornaments, We have a tradition of buying a new ornament each year for each of our children to take with them when they marry. As three of our children are now young adults, we have quite a collection. We solve it by putting up three trees!
Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas.
