Receiving Gifts

The extent of gratitude should not necessarily be proportional to the admiration of the gift.

Be thankful for the thought, even if the gift simply is not to your taste… or size, for that matter.

Whether you’ve just received a bouquet, a birthday gift, or a meal from a friend, you should be grateful. And don’t hesitate to show your gratitude! Gifts do not always – and, in fact, should rarely (if ever?) – be responded to with gifts. There is a distinct difference between a gift and a trade. But, kind words of appreciation, and, very often, a thank you note are appropriate.

Bottom line: Say, “Thank you” and mean it. 🙂
