So, it turns out, that even if you keep a stash of fabulous Ikea salad bowls on hand for wedding gifts, you may need more than this.
“More?” you ask…
If you know this couple well, you will very possibly be invited to more than one wedding-related event. The following is a list of events at which you should tentatively plan on giving gifts:
- Bridal Shower
- Bachelorette Party
Will you necessarily need a gift for each of those? No. It all depends on who’s hosting, and what your invitation indicates.
If you are unsure as to whether or not you should take a gift… Take a gift. Leave it in the car, and see if anyone else is bringing gifts. If they are, then feel free to bring yours in. If they are not, and you still want to bestow your gift on the bride, find a discreet way/time to do so. You don’t want to make others feel awkward, or negligent by being the only one with a gift.
So, what are some other wedding gift ideas? Consider giving:
- a handwritten recipe – family/personal favorite – and an ingredient or gadget to use with it.
- a bottle of wine/other beverage you know the couple would enjoy.
- a bag of gourmet coffee beans, and may be an accompanying gift (e.g. we recently gave coffee beans and a set of 4 espresso cups/saucers).
- a set of monogrammed or generic coasters. Unless they are on the couple’s registry, I would recommend staying very classic and simple when choosing the design. You don’t want to give “That” gift, that no one knows what to do with. 🙂
