Coffee Filter Flowers – the Clothesline

Coffee Filter Flowers

And so the flower-making begins! We’re having a fun time with these coffee filters. We’ve used extra-large white filters for some really huge flowers, and some smaller white and unbleached filters for more standard-sized flowers. Plus, I’ve been dying some of the filters around the edges for some fun peach contrast.

For the dying, I simply combined a couple of drops of red food coloring, one drop of yellow, and a bit of alcohol. In my mind, anyway, it seemed like the alcohol would allow everything to dry faster. It seems to be working very nicely!

Clothes Line for Dyed Coffee Filters

For drying, we strung up a temporary clothesline right over our work space. A few clothespins, and we were in business!
