In our family, the kitchen is where we spend much of our life. We love food, we love cooking, we love hosting… and all of these involve a lot of kitchen use. Logical organization of this room makes for easier traffic flow and hospitality.
Everyone’s kitchen will be different, but, there are a few points to keep in mind when organizing (or re-organizing). We’ll start with the stove area.
Near the Stove
- Keep potholders within comfortable reach of the stove/oven. Make sure they’re easily accessible!
- Cooking utensils (spatulas, whisks, wooden spoons, tongs, etc.) should be within arm’s reach, whether in a drawer, in crocks on the counter, or hanging on the wall above the range.
- Spices (especially frequently-used ones) are great to have in a drawer or upper cabinet right next to the stove.
